During my visit to Aceh, I have the opportunity to learn and see how to make this Indonesian waffle. Ibu Erna and the ladies kindly demonstrated how to make it. This recipe is very special, taste much better than the one I used to buy from the market when I was a child in East Java.

Resep ibu Erna ini sangat enak, bapelnya gurih dan lembut. Petunjuk step by step dapat diikuti dengan mudah dengan adanya foto disamping cara pembuatan. Silahkan mencoba.
Bapel
Biang (starter dough)
100 gr tepung terigu
25 gr gula pasir
sugar
200 ml air
water
11 gr ragi instan (atau 1 sachet)
instant yeast
Aduk semua bahan sampai rata dan biarkan mengembang selama 15 menit
Mix all the ingredients well and leave to prove for 15 minutes
Adonan (main dough )
400 gr tepung terigu
375 gr gula pasir
sugar
100 gr mentega cair
melted butter or margarine
10 gr Garam
salt
5 Butir telur
eggs
500 ml santan kental, di masak dengan daun pandan dan daun jeruk parut
thick coconut milk, simmer with panda and kaffir lime leaves
Cara membuat / method
Simmer the coconut milk with pandan leaves and kaffir lime leaves for 15 minutes, stir occasionally, leave to cool
Cream the eggs and sugar
Masukkan tepung terigu dan santan secara bergantian, aduk rata, lalu masukkan biang, aduk rata lagi
Add in the the flour and coconut milk alternately, a little at a time
masukkan biang dan aduk rata
Mix in the starter dough, mix well
Masukkan mentega cair, aduk rata, diamkan selama 1 jam
add the melted butter, mix well and leave to prove for 1 hour
Put the mould over medium heat, and grease with oil or margarine or butter
Tuangkan adonan kedalam cetakan, tutup, setelah
Pour the mixture into the mould
Turn over the mould, after half done to get the print and cook thoroughly.
Hidangkan selagi panas, lebih enak disajikan dengan es krim
Serve while they are hot, preferably with ice cream
