I used to have this dish from my neighbour, a very kind Indian lady. That was sometimes ago but the taste still linger in my mind. Got this recipe from my friend, and tried it yesterday.....mmmm yumm
Ingredients
Bahan
350 gr Round aubergine ( or any type), quartered and soaked in salty water.
Terong bulat atau jenis apa saja, dibelah empat dan direndam dalam air garam
50 gr Dried snapper, wash, dice and friedIkan asin jambal, dipotong dadu dan goreng
100 gr Shallots, finely slice
Bawang merah, rajang
5 clv Garlic, finely slice
Bawang putih, rajang
25 gr Green chili, cut in half and split
Cabe hijau, potong dua dan belah tengah
1 Tomato, peeled and diced
Tomat, kupas dan potong dadu
200 ml Water
Air
2 tbsp Tamarind paste
Air asam Jawa
1/2 tbsp Curry powder
bubuk kari
a sprig of curry leaves
Daun kari
Whole spices
Bumbu utuh
1/4 tsp Fenugreek
Biji Alba
1 tbsp Mustard seed
Biji sawi
1/4 tsp Cumin
Jintan manis
Ground ingredients
3 Dried red chili, soak in hot water
Cabe merah kering, direndam dalam air panas
1 tbsp Coriander seeds
Ketumbar
Method :

- Bahan2 yang dibutuhkan
- Saute the slice garlic and onion till fragrant
- Bawang merah dan bawang putih sampai harum
- Add the split green chili
- Masukkan cabe hijau belah
- Add the whole spice, stir for a minute
- Masukkan rempah-rempah biji
- Put the ground spices, curry leaves and curry powder
- Masukkan bumbu halus, daun kari dan bubuk kari
- Now put the brinjal, stir for a few minutes
- Sekarang masukkan terong, aduk-aduk beberapa menit
- Put the fish in and then water. Cover the pan for a good 20 minutes, stir occasionally
- Masukkan ikan, kemudian air. Tutupi panci atau wajan selama 20 menit, sekali-sekali diaduk.
Ready to serve with steam rice.....
Siap dihidangkan dengan nasi putih....
